Why Franklin Drive church of Christ?
At the Franklin Drive church of Christ we are simply a local group of Christians (Acts 11:26), seeking to serve God based on the teachings revealed in His Word, the Bible (John 12:48; Romans 10:17; 2 John 9).
We Make It Our Aim to Be the 1st Century Church in the 21st Century!
When the seed, the word of God (Luke 8:11), is sown in the hearts of honest individuals who then obey that word, it will produce Christians – nothing more and nothing less. This is what happened in the first century, and this is what we strive for today.
As a church, we are a self-governing and independent body of Christians acknowledging Christ as the only head of the church (Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18). Since we submit to Christ (Ephesians 5:24) and since God has revealed all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 2:3), we can work and worship just like those in the first century. We do not answer to any other church or organization. We are not affiliated with any denomination or cult.
The Bible Is Our Only Guide.
The Bible alone governs our faith and conduct. The Bible is inspired (literally, “breathed out by God”) and infallible (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 1 Corinthians 2:11-13). What the Bible directs on any given subject is the final word for us. It is what we preach from the pulpit; it is what we teach in our Bible classes. Therefore we lay aside all human creeds and systems and live according to the Bible.
Unity Is Our Desire and Plea.
Jesus prayed for all believers to be one (John 17:20-21). Paul pleaded for no division (1 Corinthians 1:10-13). Thus unity is commanded and possible. Unity is maintained when professing Christians speak and act where God has spoken (1 Peter 4:11; Colossians 3:17; Ephesians 4:1-6; Philippians 2:1-10).
